Covestro (formerly Bayer) Desmodur 2460M liquefied MDI MDI-50 101-68-8
Product Features
Diphenylmethane diisocyanate monomer with high 2,4′-isomer content, stable against storage discoloration.
Prepolymer formulations for one- and two-component polyurethane coatings and adhesives and related applications.
Desmodur® 2460M is a mixture of isomers of diphenylmethane diisocyanate monomer and is liquid above 20°C.
Storage and handling are simpler than 4,4′-isomers that are solid at room temperature (such as Desmodur® 44M, Desmodur® 44MC).
The supplied form does not contain solvents and is a colorless to yellow low-viscosity liquid at temperatures above 20°C, and crystallizes at lower temperatures.

Processing
You must ensure that all containers – including empty ones – are sealed at all times. Most importantly, since Desmodur® 2460M reacts with water to form polyurea and carbon dioxide, it must be protected from contact with water. During the storage, sampling, transfer and processing of Desmodur® 2460M, moisture must be prevented from entering in any form (humid containers, anhydrous solvents, humid air). Otherwise, the carbon dioxide generated will cause a pressure increase in the storage tank and container. High, causing danger. Furthermore, the formation of polyurea in Desmodur® 2460M may cause turbidity and solid deposits, which can clog filters, pumps and lines.
